How do you teach Classifying Nouns in a fun way? One of the lessons that I had in the Filipino subject during the Second Grading Period was on classifying nouns according to tao, bagay, hayop, lugar (person, thing, animal, place). One of the activities I did to introduce the lesson to the pupils was to have a simple race game!
First, I downloaded the game sheet below from Susie Q. It’s for free so go and download!
Second, I grouped the pupils into small groups (about 4 members per group).
Third, I gave out the instructions and we started playing the game. This is the mechanics:
1.Each group will have a representative and will take turns in rolling out the dice.
2. Then the group will move their marker on their game sheet according to the number that was taken from the dice.
3. They will identify the what kind of noun the picture is by writing it down. (Example: CD=thing)
4. The first group to reach the end wins the game!
After playing the game, the groups now will cut the pictures from the maze and paste the pictures in the worksheet below. This is the 2nd part of the game sheet downloaded for free from SusieQ.
There you go! My pupils happily showing off their very good outputs!
Happy Teaching!
